Innovators and Disruptors

I agree with this meme and would only add that there needs to be a balance of innovation and consumer and related protections. Not nanny state but reasonable.

Many of these and other innovators early on complained about anti-competition from bigger rivals or of consumer, public and environmental protections in place restricting their growth. Once they become determined or big enough they find ways to circumvent these, often unethically or unlawfully.

Once they become giants they often allowed to buy up emerging rivals for the technogy and market share but at a cost to consumers. They often start influencing regulators and other public officials to change the rules in their favor.

We need to promote innovation but with a balance of consumer and related protections.
