The US have been asking Russia to destroy several new nuclear missiles that they argue is banned under the treaty but Russia argues it does not fall under the treaty so has been refusing to.
Senator Bob Menendez from the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee said
“….Today’s [notice to] withdrawal is yet another geo-strategic gift to (Russian President) Vladimir Putin,”
Russian alleging the US government is being influenced by its large corporations that will benefit from manufacturing nuclear weapons after the US withdrawls.
